Nestled in the sub-alpine region of the Steavenson River Valley, Moondai Farm is a family-run property with a rich story and a passion for producing exceptional quality Angus beef and alpaca fleece.

Our Story

Moondai Farm began its journey in the late 1800s as a humble dairy farm and guest house for travellers. Over time, it evolved into many roles—home to the region’s first trout hatchery, later a golf course, and eventually a thriving alpaca farm with a cosy bed and breakfast.

In 2009, the Black Saturday bushfires tragically destroyed much of the farm’s historic infrastructure. While the physical rebuilding continues, the spirit of Moondai Farm remains stronger than ever.

Today

Although the farm is currently closed to the public, it continues to operate behind the scenes with pride and purpose.

  Our world-class Angus cattle are raised by a local family with over 60 years of breeding expertise. The beef is supplied to both local markets and international export.

  Looking toward the future, we’re focusing on developing a small, boutique alpaca herd known for its superior-quality fleece.
